Hi Darling,
I went to a week-long silent retreat on the central California coastline. Although, I was really looking forward to this experience, before leaving my friend said…”You?… Silent?”
I had to laugh too. Entering silence in the beautiful space and natural setting we were in was really surprisingly easy.
In fact, it quickly became comfortable NOT to speak, to just BE with oneself and a blessing to retreat from the daily routine and noise of the world.
Although, you may not have the occasion or desire to be silent for a week, you can take moments in the day to quiet the mind even for a few minutes.
For me, first thing in the morning before beginning my day (before I let the world of iPads and computers in), I take time to be peaceful, meditate and experience gratitude. Again in the evening at sunset or before sleep, I go into the silence.
Sunrise/sunset the beautiful times when the world wakes up, and then settles down again for rest, are wonderful times for meditation.
Anytime you can take a few moments during your day to tune into your true self is beautiful. Perceive the world around you, listen to the birds singing their songs and the rustling of leaves in the trees in a gentle breeze. Close your eyes, get comfortable and experience what is!
